THE AMAZING GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
The Gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.
The Bible tells us we have all sinned by breaking God’s laws and as a result we all fall short of His perfect standard. The Bible also tells us there is nothing we can do in ourselves to improve ourselves, make amends for our sins, or repair our broken relationship with God. This is hardly good news!
The good news of the gospel begins with the fact God loves us. A love so great that God did what we could not, in order to address the problem of our sin.
The Bible says: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" -John 3:16
2000 years ago, God sent His Son into this world to personally deal with our sin. The Son of God came into this world as a man named Jesus, so He could die on a cross for our sins. He took for Himself the punishment we deserved so we can go free. The price of our sin has been paid in full and all that’s needed for us to do is to turn from our sin and accept this gift of forgiveness from God.
After His death, Jesus Christ rose from the dead and was seen by hundreds, before returning to heaven. He is alive today, offering forgiveness and eternal life to all who seek salvation through Him.
The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. -Romans 6:23
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. -Acts 16:31
THE HEART OF WHAT WE BELIEVE
Put simply, we believe the Bible.
We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God, making it true and relevant to our lives today. We look to the Bible to tell us who God is and to tell us who we are. The Bible guides us in everything from our relationship with God, to morals, family life, church life, and more.
No brief statement could fully convey all that we believe. However, the following points summarize a few critically important aspects of our faith:
We believe the Bible contains the living, unchanging words of God – written by men at God’s inspiration -2 Timothy 3:16
We believe scripture is relevant, reliable and sufficient for us to learn about and to know God, to inform our faith and to instruct our path in this world.
We believe all things were created by God, who exists eternally in the three distinct persons of the trinity – The Father, Son and Holy Spirit -John 1:3
We believe God is perfect, loving, and interested in every person -1 Peter 3:18
We believe Jesus Christ is God the Son and that He came into this world as a man in order to die on the cross as a substitute for sinners -1 John 2:2
We believe Jesus Christ rose from the dead and that today He lives in Heaven as our advocate before the Father -1 Corinthians 15:3-4
We believe every person is born with the flaw of a sinful nature and that our sin separates us from God and renders us helpless to save ourselves -Romans 3:23
We believe that through the sacrificial death of Jesus we can be forgiven, made clean from our sins and justified before a perfect God -Romans 3:24
We believe salvation is a result of God’s great grace and that it is received exclusively through faith in the atoning death of Jesus Christ.
We believe salvation is obtained individually when a person repents of sin, believes in the work of the cross, and receives Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
We believe Heaven is real and is the eternal home of the saved. We also believe Hell is real, and is the destiny of those who do not accept God’s free gift of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.
ABOUT THIS CHURCH
We are born again Christians with a desire to meet and function according to the descriptions, instructions and patterns for a church provided in the New Testament of the Bible (Acts 2:41-42, 1 Timothy 1:13, Hebrews 13:9, Ephesians 4:14).
We are Christ-centered. We love the Lord Jesus Christ and want Him to have the preeminence in everything we do (Colossians 1:18).
We are gospel focused. Each of us has been saved from the penalty of our own sins and now want others to discover Jesus Christ as their own savior. For this reason, we regularly preach the gospel of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:23).
We are independent and self-governed. This church is not affiliated with any denomination or parent organization, nor have we elevated any single church member into a position of leadership over the church. Instead, under the headship of Christ (Colossians 1:18), we look to the Bible to guide us, with a body of overseers providing spiritual leadership for the church (Titus 1:5).
We want to be a good neighbor. Regardless of whether you share our beliefs or not, we want to be friends to everyone and an asset to this community (Galatians 6:10). If you know of a way we can be more neighborly, please let us know!
